NaPoWriMo Day 10 – Must We Continue To Pretend? (Freeverse)

As if the skies don’t crack and fall at my feet everytime you say my name
As if there is not the tiniest shift
in the tectonic plates when our eyes meet
As if the fishes in my tank don’t swim helter-skelter
when our fingers brush accidentally
As if my heart doesn’t grow a new string
when you wave to me from the distance
As if the atoms in the cosmos don’t impinge
As if the moon doesn’t stitch our conversations on her skin
As if synchronicities aren’t killing themselves
because they can’t provide us enough
As if every cell in your body doesn’t get drenched
in longing for me
As if my limbs don’t turn into jelly
when you praise the truest me

Tell me,
must we continue to pretend?
You know my soul sees your soul.

Today’s prompt was given by Amy Kay on Instagram. It is to choose a sticker by tenderghost and use it as a title for a poem. I can’t upload the sticker as I’m unable to upload images on this website. You can check it out here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C3WVtJEO9rG/?igsh=c2g0c21xdGZodmJy
