I Have a Hunger – Freeverse

I have a hunger for the full moon.
Bleached cream and lustrous,
she blazes like an ambrosial goblet,
planting one poem after another
inside my tangled mind.
Does she have a hunger for me, too?

I have a hunger for him.
His sky-soaked heart ever unreachable,
his eyes glinting with a thousand sunrises.
My skin sprouts periwinkles
whenever I hear his oceanic voice.
Does he have a hunger for me, too?

I have a hunger for freedom.
Its snowed-in wings a forever mirage,
beckoning me to hold them and take off.
A million rivers flow from its hands.
How I wish I could take the plunge!
Does freedom have a hunger for me, too?

I have a hunger for nostalgia.
Its sweet rush painting my body sepia,
licking my present wounds
with its starlit tongue, hugging me with its
montaged arms that bring me back to myself.
Yes, nostalgia does have a hunger for me.
