I Don’t Want To Be Rescued – Freeverse
This time,
I don’t want poetry to rescue me.
I don’t want it to become my haven
where I could stuff all this hurt
and give it a voice.
This time,
I want to stay.
I want to ache.
I want to clutch
this cosmic happenstance
and pull it closer and closer to me.
I want to make sense of this injustice
instead of hiding behind metaphors.
I want to transcend higher and higher.
I want to keep singing the same tunes
my shattered heart croons.
But isn’t poetry a medium
to address these soft wants
of a wrecked soul?
