Hope (after Emily Bronte & Emily Dickinson) – Rhyme Poem

Hope (after Emily Bronte & Emily Dickinson)

Hope tastes like a bitter concoction,
made with an abundance of frustration.
She reads out sad poetry.
I cannot call her my country.

She waits for a chance to escape,
while I watch her agape.
These days, she never whispers.
Oh, I hear her melancholic whimpers!

Hope meanders through the town,
while I wait here and mourn.
Hope sugar-coats her speech,
while always staying out of reach.

She is wishful thinking personified.
Oh, how I pray her to be my guide!
But she never listens to my pleas.
She’s someone I can never seize.
