A Rosy Vision – Butterfly Cinquain

Hello, I am writing this Butterfly Cinquain for the #TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge No. 257. The challenge is to write an ekphrastic poem for the below image:

Painting by John William Waterhouse

So, here’s my cinquain:

Wishful
is her thinking
She dreams of a vision-
comfortable, rosy, and free
Albeit
the chains that bind her to the cage
she dreams of far-flung lands
where freedom is
alive

  1. Kavya, I like your take on the woman’s vision in this painting. I didn’t think about her wishing for her personal freedom. That is really a great viewpoint! Butterfly cinquain’s are always fun to write. <3
