A Mother’s Admiration – Freeverse

Lips parted ever so slightly,
she sleeps, her cherubic face
Gleaming in the night-lamp.
I kiss her slim cheeks,
and breathe in her calmness,
All the while wondering
whether I could be this calm ever.
I stroke her tiny fingers,
Mock-curl them with mine.
She stirs and turns away.
I giggle in punctuated whispers.
I fall in love once again.
And again and again.
